The Triton Inn forms part of the village Estate of Sledmere in the heart of the Yorkshire Wolds. This 18th century Inn was completely refurbished during the winter of 2006 and boasts up to date facilities within a charming Victorian setting.
Surrounded by rolling hills and the beautiful countryside made famous by David Hockney, Sledmere is the ideal location for exploring some of the areas best kept secrets whether on foot or by bicycle. The market town of Driffield is a 15 minute drive away. Situated less than 20 miles from the rugged Yorkshire coast and it's ever popular seaside attractions at Scarborough and Bridlington, and only 26 miles to the ancient and historic city of York it's the perfect base for touring around.
Sledmere House - the stately home to Sir Tatton Sykes - is only a few hundred yards away and is open to the public from Easter to late Autumn; it is a must for visitors to the area. For more information visit www.sledmerehouse.com
The Triton Inn offers visitors a warm welcome, fine ales & good wines with traditional English style meals at lunch times and evenings. And if you don't want to leave; you'll be more than comfortable in one of our 4 star rooms.
Booked the private dining room for my daughters 40th. Food was excellent as is usual for the Triton. The staff are pleasant and helpful. They go out of their way to make sure everything is perfect. The private room is perfect for a smaller party. The decor in this room is vintage with good soft lighting which gives the room a warm welcoming feel. There is a useful hatch to the bar meaning you do not have to walk through the main bar to buy drinks. There are good parking facilities. Been here on other occasions and I cannot fault it.
Fantastic Sunday lunch. Very efficient, attentive staff. My only criticism is that due to the large, delicious portions, I only managed two pints of their Wold Top ale.
Thank you very much, we will be seeing you again soon.
The rooms were very clean, warm and cosy with tea and coffee. The restaurant very comfy, food portions very generous and tasty. The staff were lovely and welcoming. They were very accommodating and helpful. It was nice to be able to come and go as we needed to. They handled our very large group meals very well. They made our stay for my daughters weddi g very pleasant snd we'd be very happy to stay anytime.
Had my 40th here. Fantastic location. Great food. Excellent service. Thank you so much. Some of my guests are already planning to go back they liked it so much. And special thanks to Tony for all you did
This is our favourite place for a lovely traditional meal. Quality fresh food cooked to order, homely surroundings and friendly staff. We even have our favourite table!
Visited today for Sunday Lunch, we were travelling to visit relatives and looking for a place to eat, been past this lovely pub many times and always wondered what it was like so phoned and booked a table. We had the best Sunday roast I have ever had, it was absolutely delicious and we will definitely be coming again.
